A musician’s house that does not exist

On a hillside in Sunset Town, opposite the Campanile clock tower and looking toward Kiss Bridge (Cầu Hôn), the La Festa Phu Quoc hotel has added a white neoclassical building. It is called Terza, and it has an imaginary owner: Trần, a musician from the South who travels through many lands and records each journey in song. Trần takes inspiration from local rhythms, from everyday habits and from the people he meets on the road.

That story lives in every detail of the building. In front of each room’s door is a vinyl record. The desk in the room is shaped like a piano. The building has 29 suites and duplexes, named like the rooms of people who make art: The Writer’s Nook, The Painter’s Lodge, The Sculptor’s Chamber.

And the music is at the very bottom. Luna Folk is on level B1 of Terza, a speakeasy-style bar and jazz bar blending American and Italian inspiration.

Stepping down to the basement

Luna Folk is made like a hidden tavern: low lighting, thick, warm materials, music that changes with the hour. Its inspiration comes from Italian jazz culture and old American bars.

The main room has a checkerboard wooden ceiling hung with horn-shaped copper lights. Turmeric-yellow velvet armchairs are arranged around round tables, with shelves of books and records to one side. The bar runs along the right, with high stools upholstered in reddish-brown leather and table lamps with coloured glass shades, and at each end of the bar stands a bronze statue of a musician.

At the end of the room is a round stage with a red velvet curtain hanging behind. Around the stage are moss-green velvet chairs and stone-topped tables. Behind other red curtains are private seating corners with yellow velvet banquettes, and paintings of instruments in many colours hang on the walls.

Music that rises with the night

At Luna Folk, each evening has its own rhythm. Some evenings it is the sound of a saxophone, some a stripped-back acoustic set, some a live band, and as it gets later a DJ takes the floor. The tempo usually quickens as midnight approaches.

The drinks follow the same rhythm. At sunset they are light, crisp, sparkling glasses. Late at night they are stronger ones. The menu revolves around classic cocktails, carefully chosen herbs and craft spirit bases, mixed with layered flavours.

Luna Folk is one of La Festa’s eight restaurants and bars. Having dinner at Finca, Seta or Mare in the same hotel, then going down to B1 to hear music, makes a complete evening without leaving Sunset Town.

What time does it open?

From 19:00 to 1:30 am the next day, Wednesday to Sunday.

Do I need to book?

It is best to book ahead through Luna Folk’s TableCheck page (for 1 to 8 people), by calling 0297 3525 555 or by email at pqcpq_reservations@hilton.com. The bar may not be able to arrange the exact seat you want, and sometimes the whole venue is booked out for a private event, so ask first, and while you are at it ask what music is on that evening.

Can I bring children?

No. Luna Folk does not admit children under 12.

What about prices?

Prices on the menu do not include tax and service charge. The menu and drinks packages change with the season, so check the booking page or ask the bar first.
