A bar right on the sand of Bãi Trường

OCSEN Beach Bar & Club sits on Bãi Trường, the long stretch of sand on Phú Quốc's west coast where the sun sets straight into the sea. From Trần Hưng Đạo street, turn into alley number 124 and keep going until you reach the sand. By day the bar is a place to lie on a lounger under a white umbrella, listen to soft music and sip a cocktail facing the water. When the sun goes down, the DJ takes over and OCSEN turns into a nightclub on the beach.

Say the name aloud and it sounds like "ốc sên", the Vietnamese word for snail, and the bar's logo is indeed a snail crawling beneath two coconut palms. The bar has been here long enough to throw a four-year anniversary party on Saturday evening, 10 December 2022, with four guest DJs.

Ten at night, fire on the floor

Fire dancing is OCSEN's signature act. The show runs at 22:00 every night. It goes on even in the rain, pausing only for a major storm. The performer, wearing a hat, kneels in a ring of fire running along the floor while guests stand around holding up their phones to film.

Before that there is another moment: sunset. From 16:00 to 18:00 every day is the bar's golden hour, and roughly 17:00 to 18:30 is the best time to watch the sun go down over the sea at Bãi Trường. Sitting through sunset, having dinner, then staying until ten makes a full evening here.

What to eat and drink

The drinks menu opens with the bar's signature cocktails: OCSEN Beach, a Mango Chili Margarita with tequila, mango and chili, and the curaçao-blue Deep Blue Sea. If you come in a group, order the 1.5-litre cocktail jug to share, or a sangria or mojito. There are also bottled beer, draught beer by the tower, soju in many flavours, wine, the familiar spirits, juices, smoothies, mocktails and shisha.

The food is beach-bar fare mixing European and Vietnamese: pizza, pasta, burgers, fish and chips, BBQ pork ribs, Taiwanese buns, and a one-person seafood tray of fish, prawns, mussels and squid served with turmeric rice. The Vietnamese side has fresh spring rolls with prawn or tofu and peanut sauce, green papaya salad, and Phú Quốc-style chicken wings fried with sweet chili fish sauce, eaten with steamed rice. The menu is printed in three languages: English, Korean and Vietnamese. If you have any food allergies, tell the staff.

Party nights through the year

OCSEN lives by its party calendar. The bar's events page has covered Vietnamese Tết nights with fireworks and fire dancing, Christmas, Pride and drag nights, DJ-and-vocal sessions at sunset, and New Year's Eve nights.

The big party coming up is New Year's Eve on 31 December 2026, from 16:00 until 06:00 on 1 January 2027. The bar opens three bars and two dance floors, with fire dancing, fireworks and a bonfire on the beach, and DJs Miani, Elshin, Kel and Noughty. Tickets are sold on the bar's website.
