This part of the island is still quiet: no large resorts, no dining street, just a few small restaurants and seafood stalls along the shore. Anyone who spends a whole morning or day at Bãi Thơm has to think about where to eat, and a seafood restaurant right in the area is a place to stop for lunch or an early dinner.
The food of this stretch of sea
Bãi Thơm is fishermen's country. The sea in front is shallow and rocky, and locals wade out to catch crabs, snails and sea urchins and haul in nets, then bring the catch ashore to cook. The dishes people look for when they come up to this side are herring salad, grilled sea urchin with scallion oil and crushed peanuts, and boiled Hàm Ninh crab dipped in salt, pepper and lime.
