Where people stay in the vehicle and animals roam outside

Vinpearl Safari spreads across 500 ha of green forest canopy in northern Phú Quốc, home to more than 4,000 animals of about 200 species from around the world. It is the first zoo in Việt Nam to be certified by the South East Asian Zoos Association (SEAZA) for conservation and animal welfare.

What sets the Safari apart from an ordinary zoo is the way you move through it. You sit in an electric vehicle with toughened glass, while the animals roam freely around it, with no cages and no fences. Some come right up to the vehicle; some block its path entirely. Some people are thrilled, some a little nervous; the toughened glass is strong enough to put you at ease, and the guide tells you about each species' behaviour throughout the ride.

Two zones: Open Zoo and Safari Park

The Safari has two main zones. The Open Zoo is laid out in several areas, keeping wild species to their own standards in spacious surroundings, with a performance stage and a children's zoo where little ones meet sheep, goats and squirrels. The Safari Park is where the animals live semi-wild, and where you board the electric vehicle.

Names with stories

Among the animals here are some memorable names. The white rhino Hakuna Matata, named after the Swahili phrase meaning "no worries", was born on 3 April 2019, the first white rhino born at the Safari. The rhino Ura adopted two calves called Sữa and Bibo when their mothers were not ready. The chimpanzee Mây, born on 18 May 2023, was hand-reared because its mother did not have enough milk. The Asiatic black bears here number 26, all rescued from cramped cages.

Night Safari

After dark, the Safari runs its Night Safari tour every day, from about half past seven to half past nine in the evening. You hear the chatter of flamingos, the footsteps of Bengal tigers and the soft murmurs of the zebras, and see giraffes, tigers and lions after they have returned to their enclosures.

For the little ones

The Junior Zoo Keeper programme is for children aged 5 to 12: they step into the role of junior keepers and look after meerkats, goats, sheep and tortoises themselves. Places are limited each day, so parents should book tickets online in advance.

Shows and dining

There are animal shows, and after the performance you can take photos with the animals. The park has three restaurants: Flamingo, large and airy, suited to big groups; Giraffe, set among the trees, where you can get close to the giraffes; and Rhino, beside hồ Thiên Nga (Swan Lake), near the ticket gate.

Quick answers before you go

Where is the Safari, and how do I get there?

The Safari is in the Bãi Dài area, Gành Dầu commune, in the north of Phú Quốc. You can go by motorbike, car or taxi from the centre of the island, or take the free VinBus electric bus from Dương Đông and the airport. From the Vinpearl resorts, the in-resort electric shuttle takes about 10 to 20 minutes.

What time should I arrive, and how long will it take?

The Safari is open from morning until about four in the afternoon. The park is very large and takes a full day to see it all, so set off early in the morning. In the afternoon you could stop at the Rạch Vẹm fishing village, Mũi Gành Dầu or VinWonders nearby.

How are tickets priced?

Tickets are priced by height, with separate tickets for the Night Safari and combo tickets with VinWonders. Prices change from time to time, so check Vinpearl's official site on the day you go.
